Easy Digital Downloads Integration
Integrate Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) with AffiliatePress for automatically tracking commissions on digital products.
You can get complete control over how commissions are calculated. Decide whether to exclude shipping or taxes from commission calculations, automatically reject commissions for refunded or revoked orders, and extend the integration using AffiliatePress add-ons.
Here we’ll show you how to integrate EDD with AffiliatePress.
Before You Begin
Before configuring the integration, make sure you have the following installed and activated:
- WordPress with administrator access
- Easy Digital Downloads (Lite or Pro)
- AffiliatePress
Set Up Easy Digital Downloads Integration
To enable Easy Digital Downloads integration:
- Go to AffiliatePress → Settings → Integrations.
- Enable the Easy Digital Downloads integration.
Once enabled, the following commission settings become available.
Exclude Shipping
Shipping charges are excluded from the order total when affiliate commissions are calculated.
For example, if an order contains:
- Download Total: $100
- Shipping: $10
With Exclude Shipping enabled, the commission is calculated using $100, not $110.
Exclude Taxes
Taxes are excluded from the order total when calculating affiliate commissions. For example, if an order contains:
- Download Total: $100
- Tax: $15
The commission is calculated using $100 instead of $115.
Reject Commission on Refunded, Deleted, Failed, Abandoned, or Revoked Orders
Unpaid affiliate commissions are automatically rejected when an Easy Digital Downloads order is:
- Refunded
- Deleted
- Failed
- Abandoned
- Revoked
This avoids commissions from being paid for orders that were not successfully completed.
Note: This option only affects commissions that have not yet been paid.
Disable Commission on Upgrade Orders
AffiliatePress does not generate commissions when a customer upgrades an existing purchase. This is useful if you don’t want affiliates to earn commissions on upgrade orders.
Disable Commissions for Individual Downloads
The AffiliatePress commission settings are available in both the Lite and Pro versions of Easy Digital Downloads. Thus by default, AffiliatePress generates commissions for all Easy Digital Downloads products. If you want to exclude a specific download from generating commissions:
- Go to WordPress →Downloads.
- Edit the download.
- Scroll down to the AffiliatePress Commission Settings section.
- Enable Disable Commissions.
- Save the download.
Note: This option does not work when Commission Basis is set to Commission Per Order.
Note: When using EDD Discounts or EDD Discounts Pro, AffiliatePress calculates commissions using the discounted purchase price.
Coupon Code Add-on Support
AffiliatePress allows you to track commissions when customers purchase Easy Digital Downloads products using affiliate discount codes.
To use this feature, you must install and activate the AffiliatePress Coupon Code Add-on. Once activated, you can assign Easy Digital Downloads discount codes to specific affiliates. When customers use an assigned affiliate discount code during checkout:
- The discount is applied to the purchase.
- The purchase is attributed to the assigned affiliate.
- AffiliatePress automatically generates the commission for that affiliate.
This makes it easier for affiliates to promote your digital products using discount codes while still receiving referral credit.

Product-wise Commission Add-on Support
The Product-wise Commission Rate add-on lets you assign different commission rates to individual downloads.
To use this feature, you must install and activate the AffiliatePress Product-wise Commission Rate Add-on. Once activated, you can assign custom commission rates to specific downloads while keeping your default commission settings for all other products.
For example:
| Download | Commission |
| Download A | 20% |
| Download B | 10% |
| Download C | Default Rate |
Product-specific commission rates always override:
- Default commission
- Group commission
- Affiliate-specific commission
Downloads without a custom commission rate continue using the default commission settings.

Product Selection Add-on Support Support
AffiliatePress allows you to control which Easy Digital Downloads products are eligible for affiliate commissions.
To use this feature, you must install and activate the AffiliatePress Product Selection Add-on. Once activated, you can select specific Easy Digital Downloads products that should generate affiliate commissions. Products that are not selected will not generate commissions.
After installing the add-on:
- Go to the Easy Digital Downloads integration settings.
- Choose the products under Allowed Products.
- Save your settings.
Only the selected Easy Digital Downloads products will generate affiliate commissions. All other products will be ignored.
Note: Products selected through this add-on override the Disable Commissions setting configured for individual downloads and will still generate commissions.

How Easy Digital Downloads Commission Tracking Works
After the Easy Digital Downloads integration is enabled:
- A visitor clicks an affiliate link.
- AffiliatePress tracks commission.
- The customer purchases a digital product.
- AffiliatePress validates the purchase.
- A commission is generated for the affiliate.
- If the order is refunded, deleted, failed, abandoned, or revoked, the commission may be automatically rejected based on your settings.
