Creative Management

AffiliatePress allows you to create and manage marketing unlimited creatives such as banners, images and text links that affiliates can use to promote your products or services.

In this article, we’ll show you how to create creatives for affiliates, manage existing creatives and show them on your website using shortcodes. Further, you’ll also understand how affiliates can access them.

View and Search Creatives 

To access the list of creatives, go to WordPress → AffiliatePress → Creatives.

The AffiliatePress Creatives page shows all the creatives you’ve created and lets you manage them all from one place. 

Here, you can:

• View all available creatives.
• Search creatives by name.
• View each creative’s ID, Name, Status and Type.
• Select one or more creatives to perform bulk actions.
• Change the number of creatives shown per page.

How Do You Add a New Creative

For adding new creative, click on the “Add New” button at the top right corner of the Creatives page.

This will slide open a new Add Creative panel where you can add all creative details such as: 

• Name: Enter creative’s name which will be shown to the affiliate. This is a must. 
• Description: Add additional information about the creative. This description is also shown to affiliates. 
• Landing URL: Specify the destination URL that affiliates will promote.
• Status: Here you can choose whether the creative now is Active or Inactive. You can always change status even without editing it completely. 
• Creative Type: Select the creative type from the dropdown: Image or a Text Link. 

If you’ve chosen Image, you’ll see the below options: 

• Creative Image: Upload an image if the selected creative type is Image. Supported formats are JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP with a maximum file size of 5 MB.
• Alternative Text: Enter alt text for the uploaded image. This field is available only for image creatives as well. 

If you’ve chosen Text Link, you’ll see the option below:

• Text: Type the creative text of your product or service. This option is required when you select Text Link creative type only. 

After you’ve completed all the required fields, click Save to create the creative. 

Manage Existing Creatives  

Managing existing creatives, be it text link or image, can be done easily from the Creatives page. 

AffiliatePress allows you to edit creative details, update their status, delete unwanted creatives and perform actions on multiple creatives at once.

Edit a Creative

To edit an existing creative, just hover over its row and it’ll show an action bar that has an “Edit” icon. Click on that Edit icon and an Edit Creative panel will slide open from right. 

Here you’ll have the almost identical form as the “Add Creative” panel. The only difference is the “Edit Creative” panel’s form is already filled.  

If you need to update the details of an existing creative, you can update data such as the creative name, description, creative type, image, text, landing URL or status. You can also see and copy the Creative Shortcode from here although it’s not editable. 

At last, click Save to edit all creative details. Any updates you make will be shown wherever that creative is shown using its shortcode.

Delete Creatives

AffiliatePress allows you to remove creatives that are no longer needed in two ways: 

Remember when you hovered over a creative’s row and a small action bar showed up. Just next to the Edit icon, you might have also noticed the Delete icon. 

So hover over the creative you want to remove and click on the Delete icon from the action bar.

When the confirmation dialog appears asking you to confirm whether you are sure you want to delete this creative, click Delete to permanently remove the creative.

Note: Deleting a creative permanently removes it from AffiliatePress. So if the creative shortcode has been added to any page or post, it will no longer show that creative after deletion.

Update a Creative Status

You can quickly change whether a creative is available to affiliates by updating its status. For changing a creative’s status, simply click on the Status of the creative you want to change inside the Creatives page. 

Use the status dropdown menu beside the creative to select either: 

• Active: Makes the creative available to all affiliates. 
• Inactive: Hides the creative from affiliates. 

Note: You can use the Inactive status for temporarily disabling a creative while keeping its settings for future use. 

Use Bulk Actions

If you want to manage more than one creative at once, you can use the bulk actions. 

• Firstly, select one or more creatives using the checkboxes beside each record.
• After selecting the creatives, the bulk action toolbar will appear at the bottom of the page.
• Now choose the action you want to perform such as:
  • Active: Updates the status of all selected creatives to Active
  • Inactive: Update the status of all selected creatives to Inactive
  • Delete: Delete selected creatives

At last, hit the Go button to update all chosen creatives. This way you can manage a large number of creatives more effectively. 

How Do You Display a Creative on Your Website 

Every creative in AffiliatePress has a unique shortcode that allows you to show it on any page or post on your WordPress website. 

When the shortcode is added to a page, eligible affiliate users can view and use the creative for promoting your products or services.

For displaying a creative on your website:

• Go to the WordPress Admin → AffiliatePress → Creatives.
• Hover over the creative you want to show, and click on its Edit icon. 
• Scroll to the end of Edit Creative Panel and you’ll see an un-editable creative shortcode. 
• Copy the creative shortcode (E.g., )

That’s it. Now head back to your WordPress dashboard, and open/create the WordPress page or post where you want to show the creative. 

Here, simply paste the shortcode into the content editor inside the HTML block. 

Lastly, save or publish the page to see the creative. 

Important: Creatives are only visible to logged-in users who are signed up/registered as your affiliates. Those who are not logged in as affiliate users will not be able to see the creative.

Preview on the Frontend

After adding the creative shortcode to a page or post, the creative will be shown on the frontend for logged-in affiliate users.

Depending on the creative type, your affiliates can see marketing assets such as banners, images or text links that they can use to promote your products better.

What if The Creative Does Not Appear On The Frontend

If the creative does not appear on the frontend, you can: 

• Verify that the shortcode has been added correctly
• Make sure the creative status is set to Active
• Confirm that you are logged in as an AffiliatePress affiliate user
• Check that the page containing the shortcode has been published

After all these requirements are met, affiliates will be able to access the creative directly from the page where the shortcode has been placed.
